"Oh no, here comes yet another change in the season! Leading to a rise in my skin allergy symptoms like every year… I’ve tried all that I can, from home remedies to powerful steroidal treatment for allergies, but to no help. I feel better while taking treatment, but once it’s over, lo and behold, the allergy is back!

Please god, is there really no permanent treatment for allergies?"

Here's some good news for you! Homeopathy is the answer to your prayers!!

Wondering how?

Let me start with some basic information on allergies and then go on to how they can be treated.

What are Allergies?

Allergy is a condition caused due to the hypersensitive immune response to otherwise harmless substances in the environment. While a normal person tends to carry out normal activities without any hassle, an allergic individual ends up having symptoms ranging from mild to moderate severity when exposed to the same otherwise normal environmental conditions.

An allergen is a substance or the environment that leads to the symptoms of allergies in an individual. The common allergens identified are dust, pollen, animal dander, certain food substances, and food colours, though an individual could develop an allergic reaction to anything in the environment.

What are different types of allergies?

Allergies are usually seen at the level of skin or respiratory organs.

The commonest allergies are of the skin - atopic dermatitis (skin allergy), contact dermatitis (allergy to a specific external substance), urticaria resulting out of specific food items, friction or changes in weather.

The allergies that are seen involving the respiratory system are Allergic rhinitis (affecting the upper respiratory system) and Allergic Asthma & Allergic Bronchitis (affecting the lower respiratory system).

Who can develop allergies?

You can develop an allergy, be a skin or respiratory, at any point of time in life. It is an abnormal response that can be triggered anytime in life.

Allergies like atopic dermatitis and infantile asthma are more common to develop during childhood than in later part of life whereas urticaria is usually seen in later phases of life.

Allergies can be inherited genetically and usually runs in families.

What are allergy symptoms?

Depending on the type of allergies, the symptoms of skin allergy usually involve severe itching, patchy skin, flaking, oozing or discharge, pain at times, hives and swelling of the skin.

Respiratory allergies usually come with sneezing, irritation in the eyes, watery red eyes, running nose, ticking and irritation in the throat in cases of allergic rhinitis and with severe cough, shortness of breath, wheezing in cases of allergic bronchitis or asthma.

Allergy symptoms generally increase with changes in temperature and are seasonal in nature.

Can allergies be treated?

You can control the allergic reaction and reduce your allergy symptoms with the treatment. The conventional mode of allergy treatment involves administration of anti-histamines, immunomodulators, and steroids that help in controlling the symptoms of allergy thereby providing relief, though temporary. These medications need to be taken every time there is an exposure to the allergen, thereby creating resistance by the body to it on prolonged use. This leads to the requirement of higher dose medications at more frequent intervals, causing long term side-effects.

As opposed to this, homeopathy provides safe and effective treatment for allergies.

What is the scope of homeopathy in the treatment of allergies?

Homeopathy is a holistic science and is known to treat allergies effectively.

Research suggests that homeopathy works at your immune level, which not only helps relieve the allergy symptoms, but also helps in reducing or preventing the relapse of allergies when exposed to the same allergen or allergic condition.

Homeopathic remedies when given in the right potency, repetition and for the right duration, it tends to do wonders, that too without any side- effects.

Homeopathic remedies for allergies can be easily tapered and stopped once the individual is on the road to recovery. It certainly is not habit forming, and the body seldom develops resistance to it thereby enabling it to go to the core of the illness and remove it from the root.

Homeopathic medications are given as immunity boosters that can help prevent allergies when given at an early age in children carrying the allergy in their genes.

Few common remedies for respiratory allergies are Arsenic Album, Allium Cepa, Euphrasia, Nat Sulph, Pothos, Gelsemium, while those for skin allergies include Apis Mellifica, Silicea, Kali Sulphuricum, Sulphur.

Do not self-medicate as science is not as easy as you think. Homeopathic medication should not be taken without the supervision of a qualified homeopathic physician. These specific medications when given combined with the individual's constitutional help treat the allergy from the root.

"It's time you embrace this season change with open arms!

It's time you visit a homeopath!

It's time you bid farewell to your allergy!

It's time you have a happy monsoon, winter, and summer!!"
