Asthma - Diagnosis

To diagnose asthma, our homeopaths will do a physical exam and ask you questions about your signs and symptoms of asthma and about any other health problems. They will ask about your family history, medication (if any) and your lifestyle.

If needed, they may suggest you lung function tests to detect how well air moves in and out as you breathe. These tests may include

Spirometry: It measures how much air you inhale, how much you exhale and how quickly you exhale. The results of this test can help the homeopath tell if you have asthma or how well your asthma is managed.

Peak flow: It measures how well air moves out of your lungs. During an asthma episode, your airways often narrow. A peak flow can measure this narrowing hours, even days, before you have any asthma symptoms.

After you're diagnosed with asthma, you may also have allergy tests to see if your symptoms might be triggered by an allergy.
